Items to Store (New Player) Guide

Introduction

Black Desert has lots of strange items that it throws at you in the early parts of the game. Players are often left confused and don’t know what certain items are or whether they are important.

This breakdown lists common important items you are likely to come into contact with if you are first starting out and explains what they are used for, with links to additional resources to find out more about the game’s systems.

If you are unsure of a certain item, I recommend searching for the item in the BDOlytics Database. This will tell you the basic information about the item and may tell you what it is used for or how to get it. If you are still confused, feel free to pop into our Discord Server. Quick Tip: Items that are in your Challenge Rewards (Y to open) or Black Spirit’s Safe (B to open) do not expire and are account-wide. They also have unlimited space, so you can keep items here and remove them as needed.

Please note that your Mail (also opened using B) does have expiry dates though.

I also highly recommend using the Category sort button in your inventory to help you learn what each item is used for. You can swap to this by clicking the sorting button at the top of your inventory.

Newbie Inventory

The “Newbie inventory” is an extra inventory window for new players only, to give you more space for storing items.

To open the newbie inventory, click the backpack icon in the top left next to your equipment/inventory UI. You can then move items into the bag and retrieve them as needed.

The Newbie Inventory can store all items except for the following:

Quest items Junk items Character-bound items items stored in the Pearl Inventory Contribution items Time-limited items Trade items Horse Emblem/Rowboat License Guild-related items

Items Breakdown

Item Names	What is it?
Naru Armor	Starter gear obtained through the Main Story quests Recommended to use for new players and upgrade into Tuvala Armor. Naru gear starts at +0, then goes to +1, +2, +3 etc. all the way to +15. It then goes PRI, DUO, TRI, TET, and finally PEN. Once the gear is PEN, you can upgrade it into PRI Tuvala Armor.
Beginner Black Stone	Used to enhance Naru gear Right-click the item in your inventory to open the enhancing window. When you reach PEN Naru, it can be exchanged for PRI Tuvala. You should get enough of these through the main story quest, so please don’t try to craft more, since it requires normal Black Stones and these are worth more silver. If you have spare Beginner Black Stones after reaching PEN Naru gear, you can make a 2nd set to exchange to PRI Tuvala as well. The reason this is useful, is to have a 2nd set to failstack on when enhancing your Tuvala. You can only keep 1 set of Tuvala at the end of the Season though.
Secret Book of Misty Breeze	Obtained when you complete the Main Story Quests on a Season character Use to obtain high amounts of Skill EXP.
Rift’s Fragment Rift’s Echo	Use Processing (L) > Simple Alchemy with Rift’s Fragment x5 to create a Rift’s Echo Using the Rift’s Echo will summon a boss that rewards you with Season Server Materials (Recommended to complete whilst in a party)
Tuvala Armor	Season Server gear that is recommended for new players Can be obtained by exchanging Time-filled Blackstones, or converting PEN Naru Gear. It is recommended to convert PEN Naru to PRI Tuvala, then enhance it to DUO, TRI, TET and finally PEN. PEN Tuvala can then be exchanged for TET boss gear at Jetina (after Season Graduation).
Time-Filled Blackstone	Used to enhance and “force enhance” Tuvala Gear Right-click the item in your inventory to open the enhancing window Time-filled Blackstones can be exchanged at a Blacksmith to obtain base (+0) Tuvala gear
Capotia Necklace Capotia Belt Capotia Ring Capotia Earring	These are very very good beginner accessories that you can get for free. A PEN Capotia is equal in stats to yellow-grade TET accessories. Obtain a TRI Capotia Accessory of your choice from your (Y) Challenge Rewards and enhance it using Dreamy Crystal of Balance Obtain PEN Capotia Accessories as a special reward on the Season Server Season characters cannot wear Capotia Accessories, so store them and use them once you graduate. Dreamy Crystal of Balance	Obtained from your (Y) Challenge rewards and Season Fishing Item ([Season] Coelacanth) exchange Used to upgrade your TRI Capotia Accessory (also obtained from Challenge Rewards)
Black Stone	Used to enhance various gear up to +15 Right-click the item in your inventory to open the enhancing window
Concentrated Black Stone Concentrated Black Stone	Used to enhance various gear between PRI to PEN. Right-click the item in your inventory to open the enhancing window
Sharp Black Crystal Shard	Used to craft Concentrated Black Stones and Black Gems.
Black Gem	Used to enhance life skill mastery gear and accessories.
Black Gem Fragment	Can be obtained through gathering and hunting Used to create Black Gems, or can be processed (L) into Black Stone by using the “Grinding option”.
Hunter Seal	Can be exchanged to obtain Black Stone and Black Stone
Cron Stone	Used to safely enhance various types of gear. This can stop the gear from downgrading when enhancing, or stop accessories from breaking. It is recommended to store your cron stones for now, and use them at a later date on expensive gear such as Fallen God, Labreska, Blackstar Cron stones are also used for awakening dream horses (Tier 9 horses). Caphras Stone	Used to further enhance PEN boss gear to increase their Caphras level and give extra stats. Store these for now, and use them when you have PEN boss gear items.
Ancient Spirit Dust	Used to craft Caphras Stones Processing (L) > Simple Alchemy: Ancient Spirit Dust x5 + Black Stone (Armor/Weapon) x1
Tachros’ Spirit Stone Destruction Spirit Stone Life Spirit Stone	Can be equipped and actived to give various buffs. These spirit stones cannot be repaired (Alchemy Stone Guide). The Tachros’ Spirit Stone can only be obtained through Season Server.
Finto’s Sweet Juice Finto’s Fresh Juice Finto’s Filling Juice	Can be consumed by right-clicking to gain EXP in the breath, health, or strength stats.
Fluffy Milk Bread	A reward given when completing some quests in the main quest storyline. Can be used by right-clicking to reward a small amount of Health EXP.
Verdure Draught Giant’s Draught Beast Draught Savage Draught Celerity Draught	Buffs used for grinding or life skills. Can be consumed by right-clicking. Other examples include: Perfume of Courage, Perfume of Swiftness, Spirit Perfume Elixir, Khalk’s Elixir, Frenzy Draught, and more. BDOlytics recipes
Simple Cron Meal Seafood Cron Meal Exquisite Cron Meal Milk Tea	Food buffs used for grinding or life skills. Can be consumed by right-clicking. BDOlytics recipes
Magical Elixir	Used to upgrade Beast’s Draught, Giant’s Draught, Frenzy Draught, or Savage Draught. Eg. Craft using Processing (press L), and insert Beast’s Draught x2, and [Event] Magical Elixir x1 Increases the duration of the Draught from 15 minutes to 1 hour.
Dim Magic Crystal (Lifeskill) Dim Magic Crystal (Combat) Resplendent Kydict’s Crystal – Adventure	Various Crystals you can equip in your Crystal Presets for additional stats.
Laila’s Petal	Can be exchanged to obtain a Sealed Fairy Wings (Fairy Guide)
Mass of Pure Magic	Used to craft Flawless Magical Black Stones (used to enhance Blackstar gear) Used to craft Alchemy Stone Upgrades and Cup Accessory Upgrades
Fairy Powder	Obtained as a trash loot item when gathering (feel free to sell to a vendor) Used to craft the Pedestal of Honor Mansion furniture
Brady’s Nutritious Supplement	Used to feed pets to recover their hunger and give them EXP to level up You can obtain 5 free pets by completing the main story questlines.
Item Collection Increase Scroll	Used to add time to your Item Collection Increase Gauge (which gives an Item Drop Rate % buff when activated)
Courser’s Aura	Used to increase your Mount EXP, Training EXP and Training Mastery (store this item and use it later on if you want get into the Horse Training Lifeskill)
Elion’s Tear Elion’s Blessing	Used to instantly resurrect your character if you die, restoring EXP loss from a PVE death
Valk’s Cry	Can be used to increase your failstack size by +1 (up to a max of +10 by default). Higher failstack increases your chance of a successful enhancement.
Artisan’s Memory	Used to increase the max durability recovery by x5 when repairing gear that has lost max durability when enhancing
Memory Fragment	Used to repair Max Durability when repairing gear that has lost max durability when enhancing Required to create PEN boss gear using Jetina’s PEN Boss gear Method.
Advice of Valks	Can be used by right-clicking to consume the Advice of Valks item and gain the number as a failstack Eg. Advice of Valks (+20) will give you a +20 failstack on your character when consumed Requires you to have 0 failstacks on your current character
Sealed Book of Life	Can be used by right-clicking to “open” the Sealed Book of Life, giving a Life EXP +50% buff for 24 hours. Once the Sealed Book of Life has been opened, it will expire after a certain period of time. Eg. Sealed Book of Life (7 day) will last 7 days, and can be used multiple times to refresh the Life EXP buff. Life EXP increases your EXP gained from all life skills (gathering, farming, training, cooking, alchemy, etc.)
Sealed Book of Combat	Can be used by right-clicking to “open” the Sealed Book of Combat, giving a Combat EXP +100% and Skill EXP +50% buff for 24 hours. Once the Sealed Book of Combat has been opened, it will expire after a certain period of time. Eg. Sealed Book of Combat (7 day) will last 7 days, and can be used multiple times to refresh the EXP buff.
Book of Training – Skill Book of Training – Combat	Used to allow AFK Training for a set period of time
Blessing of Kamaslyve	A subscription item obtainable from the Pearl Store, giving a variety of buffs for a limited period of time, that are active across your account when consumed
Value Pack	A subscription item obtainable from the Pearl Store, giving a variety of buffs for a limited period of time, that are active across your account when consumed
Secret Book of Old Moon	A subscription item obtainable from the Pearl Store, giving a variety of buffs for a limited period of time, that are active across your account when consumed
Blessing of Old Moon Pack	A combination of the Blessing of Kamaslyve, Value Pack, and Secret Book of Old Moon subscription items. The Blessing of Old Moon pack gives you all the buffs for a limited period of time
Mysterious Blue Conch Brilliant Crimson Fire Flower Fruit of Yianaros	Used to train horses for Tier 9 horse attempts The items cannot be sold, so it is better to just keep them in your storage for the future
Yona’s Fragment	Ingredient used to craft various items, including the Jetina PEN Accessory, Jetina PEN Boss Gear, and Capotia Accessories.
Magical Shard	Ingredient used to craft various items, including the Jetina PEN Accessory, Jetina PEN Boss Gear, certain crystals, the Alchemy Stone Upgrade, Cup Acccessory Upgrades, and Manos Mastery Gear.
Scorched Fragment	Ingredient used to craft Manos Mastery Gear (life skill gear).
Old Moon Catalyst	Ingredient used to craft the Jetina PEN Accessory
Radiant Shakatu Seal	Attendance reward that can be exchanged for various rewards (Radiant Shakatu Seal Guide)
Gold Bar (1 – 1000G) Prognyl Silver Bar	Can be exchanged at a Storage Keeper for silver coins. Go to a Storage Keeper and use the “Currency Exchange” option, sell the items for silver.
