Future of BDO Map
- Once all the fog is gone, the question remains, what is next for Black Desert?
- The map below shows the original plan for the Black Desert world. After 10 years of release, the original plan for the map is now almost “complete”.
- Mountain of Dawnbreak is the official name for the area next to the mountain of eternal winter, following on from the story.
- In Mountain of Dawnbreak, players will experience the story of Caphras
- There is also a 100-floor dungeon teased as the content for this mysterious new zone.
- Demonland is the next area and PA joked that the official name should be “Demon Castle” instead.
- Unlike other regions, the entire region is a huge castle and players adventure into different parts of the castle to face new and different combat mechanics.
- After Demonland, the entire original plan for the world is complete and all the map fog is gone, so the question remains, what is next?
- The Magnus is a gateway to parallel worlds and through the Magnus players will be able to travel back in time to the Black Desert world of the past, thousands of years ago in the era of Edana.
- In the past, the Valencia desert is covered in fresh greenery as a vast plain, and other areas are different as well.
- Hystria may not be in ruins anymore, and there are many other changes. For example, an ancient city may have stood where Valencia now lies, or the submerged ruins of Scyraia may have been a city like Atlantis.
Land of the Morning Light: Seoul
- Land of the Morning Light part 2 will be released in Korea on August 7th, 2024. A global release is currently expected for fall 2024.
- The land is based on Gyeongbok Palace, which is a real location in Seoul and the game will be as realistic as possible just like Heidel City.
- Land of the Morning Light part 2 will wrap up the stories from part 1, as well as bring the epic conclusion to Land of the Morning Light
- Players will complete a prologue then there will be a collection of 8 “omnibus style” stories: The Tale of Chunhyand, Two Sisters, Bulgasal, a Child in Blue, Seodong, Uturi, Samsin, and Cheoyong.
- Unlike the traditional folklore stories in Part 1, these new stories will be mysterious and some are centered around political drama since this is a genre that can be appreciated by a global audience.
- The stories will be fully voice-acted, with approximately 40 cutscenes in total.
- There will also be meaningful exclusive content for the Tamer class
- Unlike part 1, which was aimed at new adventurers, the story will include more in-depth combat. Uturi may be unfamiliar even to Korean players, but his story through the Martial God Tournament will reveal his character.
- There will be more interactive opportunities in Seoul since many players liked the dogs that meet you at Nampo Harbor,
- As you adventure through the new zone, you will come across animals, people, objects, and even ghosts that may interact with you. You can ignore them, but if you show interest they may respond.
- A new manor “Hyeonrokdang” will be added and is located in the capital. There are also new furniture items added
- There are 8 new Black Shrine Bosses: Janghwa and Hongryeon, Bulgasal, Dark Bonghwang, Uturi, Samsin, Jigwi, Child in Blue, and Cheoyong.
- 2 mysterious hidden bosses have yet to be revealed, making a total of 10 bosses you can encounter.
- Uturi, Jigwi, and Child in Blue are inspired by folk tales but have been changed to add some Black Desert charm and make them feel fresh.
- The new Black Shrine is designed for cooperative play. It was initially planned for guild content but is now for any 5 players in a party.
- Uturi, for example, locks onto the weakest adventurer at the start of the battle and will attack this player throughout the battle. When Uturi unleashes a powerful attack, it is crucial to either share the damage with your teammates or retaliate.
- Jigwi, meaning fire ghost, lives up to its name with a display of flames during combat. Each boss has its unique flair and characteristics.
- There are also other changes to the Black Shrine. Players use their own gear against these new bosses. There are also only 2 difficulty options to choose from normal and difficult.
- Players cannot recover HP from skills or potions whilst in the Black Shrine, and you can only regain HP through the recovery orbs. Party members can only be revived a certain number of times as well.
- Before the battle, players will choose between the Sun, Moon, and Earth auras, which will be used differently and affect their battle role
- The Sun aura affects crowd control, Moon increases the number of party revives, and Earth aura increases the number of HP recovery orbs available.
- The overall difficulty is easier than Atoraxxion, as PA doesn’t want to strain relationships between friends.
- Rewards for the Black Shrine are still once a week. Although the content isn’t guild-specific, if all members are guild members they get additional rewards.
- When guild members complete a boss, the number of completions increases, which also increases the rewards for all guild members.
- There is also no limit for guild members so they can help other guild members who may not have completed the Black Shrine bosses yet
- You can give “likes” to the guild members who helped you and as a reward for gaining a high number of likes, you can gain a special title
- Finally, the production nodes in Gyeongbok Palance are different from other areas in Black Desert.
- Unique materials can be obtained from the production nodes. The production nodes also have individual node levels which give benefits, such as a greater chance of obtaining rare materials, or a change in produced items.
- Node levels are increased by delivering items or completing quests in the area.
- The items produced here have different uses, some can be combined and sold in Balenos for silver, while others are used as ingredients for crafting rare items.
- The Palace Management system allows players to take part in automated processing and trade. Once you have set up the initial process, the only task remaining is to sell the completed trade goods to vendors. These production items change periodically at the production nodes, so you must still check in every so often
New Class: Dosa
- BDO’s 28th Class: Dosa will have a global release on July 3rd, 2024.
- Players can also test Dosa early on the Global Lab Testing server, starting on
June 28th.(postponed until July 1st). - Dosa is a male class and has a Hwando as the mainhand and a pipe as the offhand.
- The Hwando symbolizes luminous energy, delivering swift heat-filled attacks. His pipe draws on the power of Do arts to summon the clouds which summon warriors of fog to protect him with umbral energy.
- He can combine the luminous and umbral energy into a singular powerful force called Taeguk.
- Dosa has precise movements and fluid skill combos.
- The clouds summoned by his pipe block sight and summon fog general and soldiers known as “God’s Soldiers”.
- Unlike other summons in BDO, these soldiers react differently depending on the number of surrounding enemies
Sovereign Weapons (“Fallen God” Weapons)
- Sovereign weapons (Fallen God Weapons) will be arriving with the Land of the Morning Light Part 2 update.
- Only the main and awakening weapons will be available at release, and there is currently no plan for an offhand weapon, but it will be considered after the initial release.
- There are 3 different methods to create the Sovereign weapon:
- Combine PEN Blackstar weapon with Primordial Flame from Black Shrine
- Combine 2 PEN Blackstar weapons to make a Sovereign weapon
- Combine a PEN Blackstar weapon, C20 Boss Weapon and a Gem of Twilight (most expensive method)
- Sovereign weapons have 10 enhancement levels: PRI, DUO, TRI, all the way to OCT, NOV, DEC

- Exclusive materials are required to enhance the weapons, which takes time to collect. The enhancement process will not be skippable even for players with lots of silver saved. It will also utilize the ancient anvil system for 100% enhancement chance.
- However, J’s Hammer of Loyalty cannot be used on Sovereign Weapons.
- The Sovereign weapons also have 5 effects in addition to AP.
- Players can choose their own 5 effects, using a special refining process. Eg. Evasion, HP, Critical Hit Damage, Grapple Resistance, Back Attack Damage.
- Some of the more “core” effects such as Extra Damage, HP, DR reduction, and Evasion reduction, will be easier to obtain and swap. But more unique effects will require special reform stones will be harder to acquire.
- The yellow visual effect will get brighter depending on the enhancement level. The visual effect works even with weapon skins equipped, and you can toggle the effect ON/OFF.
Hardcore Server – Season 1
- The hardcore server will be a separate server from the original Black Desert world.
- Players can create one character and will automatically start at level 60
- You will be given gear equal to 230 AP, 280 DP, and can only enhance up to 260 AP, 300 DP
- On this server, you can use recovery pots, but cannot use items such as food or elixirs
- You also can’t see other player’s family names, and chat or party functions are disabled.
- PVP is always turned on in this server and automatically activated. You can attack anyone with no PVP restrictions or penalties.
- Once you die, your character isn’t deleted but is moved into a “prison cell” where you need rest points to recover and return into the server.
- You can either wait a couple of days to recover rest points over time or fight other cell mates in 1V1 battles to steal points from them.
- The Hardcore server will have seasons and a ranking system. The longer you survive, the more fights you win, and the fewer deaths you have, all result in a higher rank.
- Once the season ends, exclusive titles (with new colors) or character effects, will last until the next season.
Dehkia’s Lantern Tier 2
- A new difficulty level for Dehkia’s Lantern will become available
- There will also be new monster zones: Cadry Ruins, Crescent Shrine, Gyfin Rhasia Temple, and Mirumok Ruins
- Tier 2 recommends a combined AP and DP of 750
- There will be special weekly quests so you don’t have to spend too much time fighting these monsters and ensure higher efficiency for everyone who can at least complete the quests.
Asadal Accessories
- New accessories “Asadal accessories” will be obtainable from the black shrine and existing monster zones.
- The accessories have special item abilities when worn.
- For example, you can use the Fury of Asadal skill when wearing the Asadal Belt, which gives Black Spirit’s Rage Recovery +10% when using the skill. This effect increases to +100% when the belt is PEN.
- The other example shown is the Blessing of Asadal skill which is used when wearing the Asadal Necklace. This skill recovers 1,000 HP when the skill is used, and is increased to 10,000 HP at PEN.
Guild Reorganization
- A new Guild Trait and Tier system will be added.
- All guilds will be able to select their “guild trait”.
- There are 3 guild traits: PVP, PVE, and Lifeskills
- Once your guild trait is selected, the guild can accumulate related fame for their guild.
- For example, if a guild has the PVP trait, it can acquire fame when completing content such as Node Wars, Conquest Wars, Guild League, RBF, War of the Roses, and AoS.
- When a guild earns PVP fame, it will rank higher in the new guild tier system, giving higher rewards when completing PVP content.
- The tier system will also work alongside other systems. For example, your guild PVP Tier will be used as an MMR system in Node Wars and Conquest wars. Guilds with a higher tier in PVP will be restricted to certain node tiers and cannot participate in lower node tiers.
- Honor rewards will also be based on tiers, high-tier guilds will have exclusive seals engraved on their guild and family name, with visual effects when they chat in the server or world chat.
- Achieving the top PVP tier will also give the guild the right to mount the “Black Dragon” mount which was previously announced at the last Calpheon Ball.
Summer Events and Costumes
- PA was not able to prepare a new event area for this year. However, they still wanted to bring something new.
- This summer, players can visit both the sea palace and Terrmian beach from the previous summer events.
- The Earfolk and Shellfolk from the sea palace will compete against Papu and Otter from the Terrmian beach.
- Badakka is the newest costume for summer, meaning “beach” in Korean
- As well as the usual dye options, there are additional designs for the shirts, such as shirts with the papu and otter logo.
- A Shai version of the costume will be developed, but today only the female and male versions were shown.
- You can also select the cape on/off to remove the shirt.
Console Only
- Porting over to PS5 is going well and the quality of the visuals as well as loading times and FPS issues have been improved
- Final testing is in December and then Pearl Abyss will be able to give an ETA for release
