Introduction
Calpheon Ball 2023 is a live presentation by Pearl Abyss that takes place in Korea and is live-streamed worldwide. The presentation aims to share upcoming content for the first half of 2024.
The Calpheon Ball 2023 Livestream took place on 16th December 2023 and was hosted by CM Endlaive, GM Lafi, and CM Nox.

The next live presentation will be Heidel Ball 2024 and will take place on June 24th, in Chateau de Beynac in France. Players will be able to sign up at a later date for the chance to attend the event in person.

Season Character Ticket
A Season Character Ticket will be distributed to all players. These tickets allow you to create a season character and you can store up to a maximum of 5 Season Character Tickets at once to use at any time. The date of distribution for the ticket was not confirmed but is likely to be added alongside the new class on 20th December.
New Region: Land of the Morning Light – Seoul
- Land of the Morning Light Part 2 will be the next region expansion.
- The region is inspired by the main royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty
- Mountains and houses will be crafted with historical accuracy and unforgettable visuals.
- It will be based on Korean folklore and there will be several new bosses and characters introduced.
- The Black Shrine bosses of this new region will be for guilds and there will be special mechanics that force members to work together.
- A new grade of weapons will also be introduced: Fallen God Tier weapons. These are a higher tier than the PEN Blackstar weapons.
New Classes
- The next class is a Female Class called the “Scholar”
- Scholar is available on Global Lab tomorrow (17th December) and will be globally released (except Console) on 20th December.
- You can sign up to test Scholar on Global Lab on the official website
- She uses two hammers as her primary weapon.
- Instead of succession and awakening Scholar will be similar to Archer’s Ascension. For her awakening weapon, she merges her two hammers into one to create a sledgehammer.
- Scholar caught the Black Death in the year 235. Although she was a renowned physicist and alchemist, she was unable to find a cure for the Black Death.
- After her adventures to find a cure, she gained the ability to control gravity, finally defeated the illness, and returned home.
- Her new powers enhance her ability to handle the hammers that she once used for alchemy. She can now control her hammers using gravity and can throw them higher and further.
- The higher the hammer goes the more damage is inflicted, and she is unaffected by fall damage.
- A second class was also revealed.
- This male class that will be coming with the Land of the Morning Light Part 2 update.
- The class is a “Do Wielder” which means he is familiar with the Do Arts in Land of the Morning Light, and will have magic-based abilities.
- The class uses a sword as their primary weapon, with a pipe as their offhand.
New Winter Outfit
- The new winter outfit will be available on December 20th.
- For Female classes, a second version will be available on January 10th.
Travel (Magnus, Black Shrine, Atoraxxion)
- Currently, the Magnus requires multiple loading screens, but PA received feedback that this caused crashing and was inconvenient. To fix this, Wuju will now appear outside the well, and talking to him will open a map showing the places you can teleport to. From here you can select where you would like to travel to and there will only be 1 loading screen.
- The Ulukita region will also be added to the Magnus
- PA have also simplified traveling to the Black Shrine, so you can instantly teleport to the bosses in a similar way to entering Battle Arena. After the fight, you will be moved back to your original location.
- Black Shrine restart feature will also be improved so that you can restart the fight instead of coming in and out of the boss room.
- Atoraxxion will get its own UI with each zone and boss info. You will be able to instantly go into the Atoraxxion dungeon from any location and be brought back to your original location after you exit.
- Valencia Desert and the Great Ocean will be changed so if you have an active compass, you can use the map navigation and pings.
- Aakman and Hystria will have designated entrances and you will be able to differentiate the portals by their appearance straight away, so there is now no need to do a questline to unlock the different portal appearances.
- All new players will be able to select 1 dream horse (T9) by default in the Y challenge rewards. This is the same event from the 2023 FESTA and will now be available permanently. Everyone who previously took part in the event will be able to redeem it again. You will have a choice between selecting a Dream Horse or the Mythical Censors.
Item Simplification (Black Stones, Seeds, Party Elixirs)
- There are now so many items and new items being added all the time, so PA would like to simplify items and reduce inventory clutter.
- For enhancement alone, there are several different items and Black Stones. Several Blackstones will be merged into different categories. For example, Weapon and Armor Black Stones will be merged into one, Sharp and Hard Shards will be merged, and all sea content Black Stones will be merged.
- Different types of meat such as “Wolf Meat” and “Bear Meat” will also be merged into just “raw meat”
- Other items such as different Fruits, Traces, and Blood Types will be merged.
- For Seeds, the different grades (normal, high-quality, special) will be merged to reduce the number of different seeds. Instead, all harvested crops will be classified by grade instead (normal, high-quality, special). Seeds will also now be stackable in your inventory. This update will take some time to develop due to the restrictions of the current inventory system, but PA promises to add stackable seeds.
- There was also a lot of feedback about Party Elixirs, and for now, PA would like to try changing the crafting process. Party Elixirs will be removed and general elixirs will now apply to the entire party. Green-grade elixirs will last for 10 minutes and blue-grade elixirs will last for 15 minutes.
- Lower-tier crystals will be consolidated to fix the complexity as well. Some crystals such as Infinity crystals that still have a use will be maintained. Life and Vital lifeskill crystals will be merged so that you can get both the mastery and life exp at once.
- Quest items that are left over in your inventory will now be auto-removed after the quest is completed. There are some old quest items such as the Atoraxxion hourglass that people keep as a collectible, but there are newer players who don’t know whether to keep these items or not and whether they will need them later. PA will be adding a clearer quest item description and you will be able to sell these old quest items to a vendor for silver.
- Event seals will be stored and exchanged in a different UI and no longer be stored in your inventory. You also won’t need to go to certain NPC to exchange them, as you can now see all event items in the dedicated UI and exchange them directly from there.
- Other items will be removed, such as: low-grade life tools (eg. Bronze Hoe will be merged), and certain accessories
Inventory Management and all-in-one Preset
- A new inventory tab is coming for items that need to be arranged in your inventory to create them.
- Players found it annoying that these “puzzle items” couldn’t stack and you can’t arrange them without unticking auto-arrange.
- The new inventory will work like the current family inventory, where you can move items into the assembly inventory and store them there separately.
- You can put items like Ancient Relic Crystal Shards in this new inventory tab, and they are now stackable.
- You will also be able to make these scrolls immediately without having to arrange them to create them.
- An all-in-one preset is also being developed where you can select add-ons, crystals, and lightstones. This will allow you to swap everything at once depending on the content. In Arena of Solare for example you can save gear/skills/skill addons so that when you enter the arena while grinding you will automatically be in the gear preset for PVP.
Life Skills (Family Life Skills, Trading Removed)
- Life skill levels will be merged on a family basis instead of being separate per character, meaning that your highest Life Skill level will be used on all characters.
- Liana’s toolbag will also be updated, so you can set up the toolbag and use the tools on any character.
- Basic gathering will be available without using any tools. PA has promised this in the past but said it is taking a while to develop but it is still in progress.
- PA is temporarily removing the general trade system due to several restrictions. For example, if you are grinding in Padix and you get a trade item while grinding, you cannot sell it if you are on a tagged character, you can’t move through Magnus, etc. Processed trade crates will remain but the general trading system will be removed while it is reworked. They tried to fix trading recently with the rework, but these restrictions still exist and cause problems, so they plan to rework trading again.
- Players will be able to sell Epheria Carracks to another player through the central market, transferring the ship license. PA is currently considering that the builder’s name will show on the ship info, but by making the ship sellable they hope it will give players the option to craft ships to sell for profit, or if you don’t want to craft a ship you will be able to buy the carrack through the central market.
- The max central market price of the Forest Path Wagon will also be increased.
- Beginner and Skilled certificate knowledge for processing will be removed and the quests will be reworked.
- The starting amount of max energy will be increased from 30 to 50.
Monster Grind Zones
- Monster zones are being buffed and adjusted so that more gear will mean more rewards – “more profit in places that require higher equipment”.
- Dehkia Zones will be buffed and the Ulukita Zones will be raised to match Dehkia Thornwood.
- For certain grind zones like Gyfin Underground, simply buffing the rewards might not be enough, so they will adjust the Monster AP Softcaps in these areas as well.
- Once all of these updates are complete, the Monster Zone info UI will be updated.
- Players also felt that the Ulukita zones weren’t that fun to grind at. These are endgame spots and PA wants them to be fun and challenging. However, rather than just making them harder with gear requirements, they want to add more mechanics and factors.
- New Dehkia Monster Zones will be added for Valencia spots: Hystria, Sulfur Mine, Aakman, and Pila Ku.
Other Monster Content (Black Shrine, Altar of Blood)
- All of the old Summon scroll bosses will be removed and you can either choose to use them or sell them.
- Calamity levels 8,9 and 10 will be added to Black Shrine. These levels will require a certain minimum AP to even attempt them (300 AP for level 8, 310 AP for level 9, 320 AP for level 10). Unlike the previous Black Shrine bosses, your gear will be more impactful in these fights. Deboreka accessories are also part of the rewards for these new and more difficult levels. In addition, new challenges will be added which can be completed to obtain special titles or effects for your character.
- Altar of Blood will be completely remastered. PA wants Altar of Blood to be a co-op content. It will be similar to Black Shrine in some ways but with group content. There will be 3 difficulty levels: easy, medium, and hard. Easy difficulty will require around 250 AP, medium will require 280 AP, and then 310 AP for hard difficulty. Altar of Blood will still be a defense-type challenge, but there will be new and different elements and rewards compared to before. Rewards are specific to each stage that you complete and players will also have the chance to obtain Deboreka Accessories at the highest difficulty
- PA clarified that the reason they are adding Deboreka Accessories as part of the rewards for this content is because they are so hard to get from the current grind zones. They wanted to add more ways for higher geared players to obtain them but still keep them hard to obtain. They also plan to remove the items needed to craft Deboreka Accessories (and Tungrad Accessories), so that the accessory will only drop in full. PA will be buffing the drop rate to compensate.
Enhancing Changes
- When failing to enhance while using Cron Stones, it will be changed so that a +1 failstack is gained.
- PA understands that enhancing is complex and not a familiar system for new players, so they want to improve in-game guides to make it easier.
- The enhancing system in general is a barrier to entry and takes time to understand, so they will keep improving it over time.
Guilds (Guild League, Guild Manors)
- Achieving certain objectives will reward a Guild title that can be assigned next to the guild name. Eg. if you have a lot of high-level sailors, you will get a sailing title you can use for your guild. If you have a lot of players with treasures you will get a treasure title.
- Guilds can also use certain hashtags to help with recruitment. Players will be able to search certain hashtags to try and find guilds that suit them. Eg. PVE, Node Wars, Progression, etc.
- Guild alerts/notifications can be sent from the guild leaders which will give a notification to all members. When you login you will get the notification straight away.
- PA also said that Guild missions are outdated and have many issues at the moment, such as having to swap channels to find a certain-sized guild mission. Now, members will be able to accept guild missions when they want and will have their own individual missions. The reward for completing the guild mission will be to increase your guild activity, so there is no pressure to do the mission within a certain time limit.
- There will also be new special guild missions added.
- Guild raids will be changed so that boss summon scrolls are removed and can be summoned once per week instead. The boss mechanics will be changed to become more meaningful, and rewards will be buffed so there is more reason for guild members to take the time to do them.
- Since traveling to Khan is also inconvenient, a new call to gather will be added specifically for the Khan raid.
- New guild skills will be added, such as Item Drop Rate, Combat EXP, and Life EXP. The new skill buffs will have an extended duration and enhanced effects.
- Guilds will also be able to expand their guild storage space based on their guild score, and a new rent system will be added so that players can rent gear from another guild member. Eg. You will be able to rent PEN accessories and gear.
- The Guild daily wage will also be increased from 5 million silver to 100 million silver so that guilds have more control over how much they want to reward their members.
- The Guild History records will be improved and will have more details. For example, you will be able to see information about the time spent as a guild member, when rare treasures have been obtained, and when members have achieved PEN Deboreka Accessories. PA is also focusing on fixing the bug where the guild history disappears.
- There has been lots of feedback about Guild housing, and now you can designate a guild members mansion as your guild manor. You will be able to instantly teleport to and from the guild manor and use shared cooking and alchemy tools.
- Guild League is currently in development, Guild League will be a 15vs15 battle and there will be rankings against different guilds. The winner of the match is determined by reaching a certain number of kills and each member’s individual score is also recorded. The Guild League will be using your own gear and is designed to be a “friendly match” between guilds to see which guild is the strongest. There will be rewards for participating and winning the match. The current idea is to give around 200 million silver for each participant.
Node Wars and Conquest Wars
Node Wars
- Node wars have changed a lot over the years and have been fine-tuned, but a shakeup is now needed so that it doesn’t become stale. Therefore, new Node War rules are being introduced.
- The current system has many flaws and problems, such as needing too much time and preparation, having a high barrier of entry, no one to fight or one-sided fights, and being difficult to join without engaging in politics.
- With the new system, guilds will sign up 30 minutes before node war and select their preferred territory, the territory will then be randomly assigned 10 minutes before the fight starts.
- There will be no need to construct a fort and its annex buildings.
- Neutral forts will be created in the territory and the number of forts depends on how many guilds signed up.
- Each of these forts has a random timer and all participating guilds can fight for control of the fort until the time runs out.
- Whichever guild is holding the fort when the time runs out will obtain the node and be removed from the rest of the fight.
- The rest of the guilds can then fight over the remaining forts in the territory.
- There will also be more rewards for owning nodes. Production nodes for example will give more materials, grinding zone nodes will have a higher drop rate, or special buffs are available for having certain nodes.

Conquest Wars
- PA is working to balance the scales for defenders since It has always been harder for the defending guild.
- You will be able to ask the guilds that own nodes in the castle region to help you defend.
- The HP of the castle gate will be auto-adjusted based on the number of attacking guilds
- There will also be new benefits for castle holders, like being able to raise taxes in the territory.
- Castle lords will get an exclusive Guild Mount, the dragon. It will have an impressive appearance and amazing abilities.
Quest Changes (Search Function, Serendia MQ Rework)
- A search function will be added so you can search for a quest name, NPC, or quest rewards
- PA is also overhauling the Quest UI so you can find important quests more easily
- For the Jetina PEN accessories and gear, there will be an exclusive UI to make it easier to understand the crafting process.
- There will also be a 2nd Jetina PEN Accessory quest available, so all players can obtain 2 PEN accessories via Jetina.
- A common goal for players after the season is to go straight for TET Blackstar weapons instead of upgrading their weapons at Jetina. Therefore, PA is adding a new method to obtain 1 untradeable TET Blackstar weapon after graduation. The weapon can be enhanced to PEN but cannot be sold on the central market.
- The Epheria Sailboat and Frigate daily quests make the crafting process time-gated. These sorts of limited quests will be removed, starting with these ships and then instruments later on.
- PA is still remastering the main questlines in order as promised with the Balenos rework. The Serendia main questline is currently being reworked and there will be new cutscenes, voiceovers, and a more immersive experience.
- The final story with Ilezra will be set in the “demonic realm”.
Console Only
- PA is aiming to showcase next-gen by Summer 2024.
- All console players will be getting a Vell’s Heart.
- The Calpheon Eliva monster zones will be updated this winter.
NA Servers Only
- A centralized server for North America was promised at the previous FESTA 2023 presentation.
- PA is still working on a centralized server.
- A North American Central Server will be opened on the Global Lab server beforehand for testing.
Mostly good for me. I want my goody bags for participating in this stupid screenshot stuff, though.
Game will alway be gatekept under a paywall (buy/sell packs for raw silver) or big grinding hours to make a small progress over it’s bad Enhancing system.
I’d like to see for NW’s an assist tab added. Some players don’t get kills because they are used for CC or healing/buffing etc. So keeping track of assists would be nice to see. Not the biggest fan of some of the NW ideas floating around, or PVP being neutered.
