How to obtain Khan’s Heart
Each of the 3 versions of Khan’s Heart can be bought directly from the Central Market. Alternatively, players can craft the heart of their choice instead.
To craft the heart, you must first obtain one of the following items:
- “Khan’s Concentrated Magic” – a rare drop from the Khan Guild Boss
- “Khan’s Dim Magic” x3 – complete the once-per-family questline to obtain
Depending on which item you obtain, there are two different crafting recipes for the different versions of the heart.

Khan’s Heart Questline
The Khan’s Heart Questline is a once-per-family questline that can be completed to obtain“Khan’s Dim Magic” x3.
These items are used to craft 1 guarenteed Khan’s Heart of your choice, meaning you don’t need to rely on an RNG drop from the Khan Guild boss.
- To complete the questline, you need to take 3 quests in total and defeat Khan 3 seperate times.
- Khan can be summoned once per week by your guild and this resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC.
- You can also join another guild temporarily as a War Hero (Merc) to complete the quest.
I recommend joining the sailing discord to find guilds that are looking for War Heroes specfically to help defeat Khan.
The first quest can be obtained from Curio on Oquilla’s Eye and is called Otterly-concerned Vellonia Merchants I.
Curio can be found on the south beach of Oquilla’s Eye.
- This difficulty level is based on the size of the guild.
- Difficulty: 0 – Small, 1 – Medium, 2 – Large, 3 – Extra Large
- You must choose the correct difficulty and defeat the Khan boss matching the quest difficulty. Ask your guild if you aren’t sure which difficulty to take.
- The difficulty cannot be changed once the guild boss has been summoned.
After defeating khan and completing the first quest “Otterly-concerned Vellonia Merchants I”, you will unlock the second quest.

How to summon Khan Guild Boss
Khan can be summoned once a week by your Guild Master/Advisor/Staff. This weekly limit resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC.
To summon Khan, the guild must first collect Khan Summon Scroll Piece x5.
The pieces can be obtained by completing bartering, sea monster hunting, and/or fishing guild missions.
- You can check the rewards for the guild mission before accepting it by clicking the mission description in the guild window.
- You can also check all of the guild missions that reward a Khan Summon Scroll Piece by using the BDOlytics database.
After collecting all 5 Khan Summon Scroll Pieces by completing 5 guild missions, the Guild can now enter a private instance to summon and battle Khan.
- Press (G) to open the Guild Window, then go to the Guild Boss Subjugation tab.
- The summon location is on Oquilla’s Eye and you can press the “Find Location” button to see the summon location.
- All guild members must go to the summon location and use the “Enter” button to go into the Guild Expedition Region instance and battle Khan.
- Upon entering the private realm, you have up to 1 hour inside.
- Set up your cannons and make sure everyone is ready. The Guild Master/Advisor/Staff can then use the “Summon” button once inside to start the battle.
- There is no penalty for dying to the Khan Guild boss.
Upon defeating Khan, all members that hit Khan during the battle can loot the corpse to collect their reward. Make sure you hit Khan at least once with your cannon to make sure you get loot.
You can then go back to the Guild Boss Subjugation Window and use the “Exit” button to leave. Return to to Curio to hand in the quest.
Possible Khan loot includes:
- Khan’s Concentrated Magic
- Tidal Black Stone
- Resplendent Lightstone of Flora
- Prairie Green Coral
- Daybreak Blue Coral
- Green Coral
- Blue Coral
- Sea Monster’s Ooze

Khan Mechanics and Strategy
Setting up for Khan
Khan is defeated using cannons and cannonballs which are purchased from the Guild Shop:
- [Guild] Monsterbane Cannon Assembly Kit
- [Guild] Monsterbane Cannonball
There is a Guild Manager NPC on the west side of Oquilla’s Eye called “Sherah Riki” and you can access the guild shop here.
You will also need Guild Allowance to purchase these items from the Guild Shop.
If you are a War Hero, you cannot use the shop, so the guild should set up cannons for you and 1 – 2 people will be assigned to refill the cannons for all the War Heroes during the battle.
Once all cannons are set up and all members are ready, the Guild Master/Advisor/Staff can summon Khan to begin the battle.
Roles during the Battle
Flex Squad
- 6 guild members, split so that 3 are in the east and 3 are in the west
- At the start of the battle, all flex members should use the DPS squad’s cannons to fire 1 cannonball and make sure that Khan’s HP bar shows up (to confirm they have hit the boss). If you do not hit Khan then you will not get loot or finish your quest.
- After hitting Khan, the Flex Squad role is to destroy the Black Crystal Seaweed that spawns on the island. They should destroy these with gear/skills and not cannons, so ensure all members are at least 270 AP.
- Black Crystal Seaweed will have a yellow beam to mark their location.
- After a Black Crystal Seaweed is destroyed, it can drop a Black Crystal Cannonball. These are special cannonballs that deal higher damage to Khan.
- Place the Black Crystal Cannonballs into guild storage for your DPS squad to collect.
- There will also be monsters that spawn around the island, kite and hit the monsters to stop them from attacking your other members who are on the cannons.
- Make sure you have inventory space and enough weight, and that your pets are fed and set to Agile.
DPS Squad
- 10 guild members, split so that 5 are in the east and 5 are in the west
- Their role is similar to the cannon squad, but these members will use special cannonballs called “Black Crystal Cannonballs”, which will are collected by the Flex Squad.
- When the Flex Squad collects a Black Crystal Cannonball, they should put it into guild storage for you to retrieve.
- Place the Black Crystal Cannonballs into your cannon. Make sure the cannonball is placed into Slot 2, and don’t load more than 3 Black Crystal Cannonballs at once.
Cannon Reloaders (Optional)
- 1 or 2 guild members depending on whether or not you have War Heroes and how many War Heroes you have.
- Cannon reloaders require a lot of free weight limit and should buy approximately 400 cannonballs each.
- At the start of the battle, the cannon reloaders should use one of Cannon Squad’s cannons to fire 1 cannonball and make sure that Khan’s HP bar shows up (to confirm they have hit the boss). If you do not hit Khan then you will not get loot or finish your quest.
- Their role is then to refill empty cannons for the cannon squad, since War Heroes cannot use the Guild shop.
Cannon Squad
- All war heroes and remaining guild members will be added to Cannon Squad
- Their role is to shoot Khan using the Monsterbane Cannonballs.
How to use the Cannons
Basic Cannon Controls:
- Q – Lower the angle of the Cannon to the Lower angle setting
- E – Raise the angle of the Cannon to the Higher angle setting
- LMB – Fire a normal cannon shot (hold down LMB to charge your cannon for longer distance)
- RMB – Fire a overcharged shot (hold down RMB to charge your cannon for longer distance)
- X – Toggles Rapid Fire mode
When you first place your cannon, you should be placing them on top of the rocks/higher ground. If you are on top of the rocks, use the lower angle (Q) setting.
Once you move your cannon down from the rocks after Khan’s Powerful Attack, use the higher angle (E) setting.
Rapid Fire mode
- Every time you shoot a normal cannon shot (LMB), your cannon will gain a stack up to 4.
- Once the cannon has 4 stacks, you can press (X) to enter Rapid Fire mode.
- Rapid Fire mode makes the cannon reload faster and you have up to 10 shots during Rapid Fire mode.
- After Rapid Fire mode, the cannon will be in higher angle setting, so press (Q) to put the cannon back into the lower angle setting.
Overcharged Shot
- Every time you shoot a normal cannon shot (LMB), your cannon will gain a stack up to 4.
- Once the cannon has 3 stacks, you can fire an Overchanged Shot by pressing (RMB)
- The Overcharged Shot has a longer reload time, but higher damage and will stop Khan from healing
- When the Black Crystal Seaweed spawns Khan will start to heal
- If you notice Khan is healing you can use an Overcharged Shot straight away.
DPS Squad Cheat Sheet:
Cannon Squad Cheat Sheet:
Khan’s Powerful Attack
During the battle, Khan may charge a powerful attack. A red message will appear at the top of the screen.
Members who are using a cannon should move the cannon down from the rocks and move so that they are positioned behind the large rocks. Do not leave your cannon!
Members who are not using a cannon (flex/reloaders) should move behind the large rocks so that they are safe.
Wait a couple of extra seconds after the attack so you don’t get killed due to lag/delay.
Credit and additional Guides
I recommend checking out the written guide by Geniewiz and joining the Sailing Discord. The guide by Geniewiz is very detailed and has been used for years as the go-to guide and strategy for Khan, so a lot of the tips and strategy I wrote in this guide were taught to me by reading the guide by Geniewiz, or from players who learned these mechanics by reading their guide. I have gone into the basics of each of the mechanics, but if you would like more details then I recommend checking out their guide as well. The Sailing Discord also has links to this guide and is useful for finding guilds that need War Heroes for Khan, as well as tons of other great sources for Sailing.
Finally, I thought that the video guide by WooTheWinner is very well explained and shows exactly what to do and expect in each role, as well as showing how the cannons work and other useful tips.
