Introduction
Lafi Bedmountain’s Upgraded Compass is a very rare treasure to collect. It requires you to grind monsters to collect 3 rare items to craft it. Two of the items drop from monsters in Hystria Ruins and the 3rd item drops from Aakman Temple. It can take hundreds if not thousands of hours to acquire all three pieces so just be aware that this is not something you should expect to get quickly if you do decide to go for it. It’s also recommended to use Item Drop increase buffs as much as possible to increase your chances and try to make the grind a little faster.
Unlike other compasses, Lafi Bedmountain’s Upgraded Compass is permanent when you acquire it. The compass will show you your location on the map even when you are in the Margoria Sea or Valencia Desert.
Creating the Upgraded Compass
The Upgraded Compass requires the following items to create it:
Compass Piece | How to Obtain |
---|---|
Lafi Bedmountain’s Upgraded Compass Parts | Grinding monsters at Hystria Ruins |
Lafi Bedmountain’s Upgraded Compass Parts | Grinding monsters at Hystria Ruins |
Lafi Bedmountain’s Upgraded Compass Parts | Grinding monsters at Aakman Temple |
Blood Ruby | Craft using processing or buy from the central market |
Ocean Sapphire | Craft using processing or buy from the central market |
Gold Topaz | Craft using processing or buy from the central market |
Once you have all 6 items you must place them in the following pattern using Yaz’s Combinables Pouch to create the Upgraded Compass
How to identify the Compass Parts
When the parts drop, they all have the exact same name and icon:
Upgraded Compass Parts
This can be frustrating because in Hystria two different pieces can drop and you won’t know which one you have unless you check your system chat to see which mob it dropped from.
You can identify the parts by taking them to Ain Greid at the Ancient Fissue node.
You can then click the “Exchange” option at the bottom and swap the parts. This will reveal their real icon so you can tell which one you have.
Obtaining the Compass Pieces
To get to Hystria Temple or Aakman Temple, you will need to go into the Valencia Desert and either enter the grind zone through the cave entrance or by going through a portal.
In some cases, you may want to enter the Aakman and Hystria grind spots via a portal if you happen to come across one while running to the cave entrance.
- The Aakman and Hystria Portals spawn in the Valencia Desert and will take you to either Aakman or Hystria.
- The portals are at fixed locations, but it is random which ones will appear at what time.
- The portal locations change every 15 minutes and are different on each channel.
You can distinguist between the Aakman and Hystria portals by their appearance. The Hystria portal has a yellow glow around the inner black hole.

Hystria Ruins
Hystria Ruins is where you can obtain two of the pieces for the compass. Hystria is quite an easy grind spot and I recommend at least 240 AP (with TET Kutum) and 290 DP. Depending on your class you may find this grind spot easier or harder.
The compass pieces can also drop from the Dehkia Lantern version of the grind zone. The Dehkia version is much harder with a recommended AP of 300 and DP of 400, but drops extra loot such as Deboreka Earrings as well.
Compass Piece | How to Obtain |
---|---|
“Elten piece” | Drops from the following monsters in Hystria:
|
Can also be obtained from the Aakman Chest, Desert Chest, and Hystriah Chest rewards when you complete Atoraxxion: Vahmalkea (0.01% drop chance). | |
“Vodkhan Piece” | Drops from the following monsters in Hystria:
|
Can also be obtained from the Aakman Chest, Desert Chest, and Hystriah Chest rewards when you complete Atoraxxion: Vahmalkea (0.02% drop chance). |
The “Elten” piece tends to be the most difficult piece to obtain out of the 3 compass parts. Therefore, I would recommend either doing the “7 Elten” rotation or the “river” rotation. The river rotation is also known as “desperate” rotation because it is very poor silver per hour but has the most Elten/Tukar Balten monsters for the highest chance at the “Elten” piece.
Below are 2 videos showing each of the recommended rotations.
Aakman Temple
Aakman Temple is where you can obtain one of the pieces for the compass. This is usually one of the most common pieces because Aakman is a popular grind spot. I recommend at least 240 AP (with TET Kutum) and 280 DP to start grinding here.
The compass pieces can also drop from the Dehkia Lantern version of the grind zone. The Dehkia version is much harder with a recommended AP of 300 and DP of 400, but drops extra loot such as Deboreka Earrings as well.

Other pieces (gems)
You also require 3 gems to craft the Upgraded Compass. These can either be processed by yourself, or you can buy them from the central market. They are usually in stock or you can try placing a pre-order and waiting.
If you would like to craft them yourself, press [L] to open the Processing window, then select the Shaking option. Use the recipes below to craft:
