Introduction
Season servers are a new addition to BDO which first arrived on the 17th of June 2020 and was revamped on 20th September 2023. So older guides may not be fully updated!
Season servers are designed for new and returning players to help you get started in BDO.

Season Character Tickets
All accounts start with 3 Season Character Tickets and can have a maximum of 5 Season Character Tickets.
You can find how many tickets you currently have in the character selection window.
- The first 2 tickets were distributed with the Sept 20, 2023 (Wed) maintenance
- A 3rd ticket was distributed on Dec 20, 2023 (Wed).
- A 4th ticket was distributed on Feb 7, 2024 (Wed)
- A 5th ticket was distributed on May 14, 2024 (Wed)
- A 6th ticket was distributed on July 3, 2024 (Wed)
Season Character Tickets will be distributed regularly and will be obtainable upon logging in.
- You can create a season character as long as you have at least 1 Season Character Ticket available, and can only create one season character at a time. Once you graduate on your season character, the ticket will be consumed.
Creating your Season Character
- You must create a special Season Character to have access to the Season server (only 1 season character can be created at once, when the character graduates, you can create a new season character immediately).
- Once you have completed all of the season, your character will graduate from the season and become a regular character.
- Season characters can use any functions already on their account (such as fairy, campsite, maids, pets, mounts).
- Since the 5th August 2023 patch, season characters can now use T9 horses.
- For your first character, I recommend choosing to start at Ancient Stone Chamber. You will still be able to play through both questlines.
- The Season servers themselves are not actually season servers at all. They are special channels that are added and only Season characters can connect to them.
- The channels have a special icon on them so you can tell them apart from regular channels.
- PK is disabled unless you specifically join the PVP channel. Guild wars are still active though.
- You can still join normal channels as well, but only season servers have the added season benefits and exclusive season materials.
Remaking/Deleting your Season Character
If you choose to delete your Season character and remake it, your Season Pass will not reset, so please make sure to claim all the rewards and put all items into town storage before deleting your character.
Remaking your season character does not use up your Season Character Tickets. The ticket is only consumed when you graduate after completing the season pass, and when you graduate, your Season Pass will reset ready for the next season character you create.
Quitting the Season
You can also choose to quit the season, which will turn your season character to a normal character without needing to complete the season pass and graduate.
It is recommended to finish the season and graduate properly instead of quitting the season.
- Quitting the season will consume your Season Character Ticket
- Your character and tuvala gear will be converted to normal character/gear
- All other season items will be deleted
- You will no longer have access to the season pass, season server, or other season related content.
Progressing through Season
Your main goal in the season is to end the season with full PEN Tuvala gear and level 61+. This is catchup gear that you will exchange to boss gear when you choose to graduate from the season.
If you manage to get full PEN Tuvala with plenty of time spare, then you may want to start working towards other things:
- Magnus questline – Free PEN Boss gear of your choice that you can use when you graduate
- Jetina’s PEN Accessory – “Free” PEN Accessory of your choice that you can use when you graduate
- Adventure Logs – Permanent AP/DP and other stats for all your characters
- Infinite Potions – Collect the BDO treasure item “never-ending potions” so you don’t have to buy them ever again!
Season Pass
The Season Pass is a set of challenges you can complete each season for extra rewards. All players get access to a free Season Pass, and have the option to buy the Black Spirit’s Pass from the Pearl Store (F3) to unlock the Black Spirit’s Pass rewards as well.
You can open the Season Pass UI by clicking the glowing yellow button to the left of your mini-map.
Completing certain objectives in the Season Pass will also reward you with [Season] Secret Book of the Misty Breeze.
This item can be used to gain a large number of skill points. The book rewards a fixed amount of skill points EXP so you can use these at any level.
However, it is worth noting that the amount of skill EXP you get is affected by skill EXP buffs so it is important to use as many as possible. I recommend waiting until you have finished the Mediah questline, then when you go to grind to level 58, pop all the skill EXP buffs you can and use the items at the same time to make sure you aren’t wasting the buffs.
Check our Skill EXP Buff List before using the Misty Breeze books. Aim to use as many as you can but don’t worry if you can’t get them all, some are only available at limited times or through the pearl store/events. At the very least, make sure to use Beast’s Draught, Simple Cron Meal, Family Fame buff, and Loyalty buff.
How to level up (New Players)
It is recommended to level your first character through the main story questline. This will get you to level 55/56 so that you can complete your awakening or succession for your class.
- If you get stuck or confused at any point while questing, you can open your main quest log [O] and then go to the “main” tab to view your progress.
- You can also view your main quest on the quest widget underneath your mini-map and press the arrow button to show a path to the quest objective.
- You can use the (T) hotkey to auto path to your quest location automatically.
The main story questlines will give you combat EXP to level your character, as well as lots of Beginner Black Stones to help you progress your Naru gear in the early levels. You must complete the Mediah questline to receive the rewards in your Season Pass so if you are a new player then following the Main Story quests is the best way to get started with the game. The tasks on the Season Pass are important to complete and most of them don’t require any extra work. You can use them as a good guideline for what you should be doing next. After reaching level 56, use our Leveling Guide to help you find where to grind and what to do to reach the higher levels.
Simplified Main Quest (Veteran Players only)
The ‘Simplified Main Quest’ has been added for existing players and allows you to completely skip the main story questline. Once finished you can continue to the Valencia questline without missing out on any rewards. The simplified questline will also complete your season pass.
Simplified Questline Requirements:
- You must have completed the Mediah Questline before
- Completed the “[Pet] Bareed’s Junaid” quest from Bareed in Mediah
- This pet quest can be found in your Suggested quest tab under “[ADV Support] Pets, Loyal Companions”.
- This pet quest can be found in your Suggested quest tab under “[ADV Support] Pets, Loyal Companions”.
To start the simplified main quest, follow the normal story quest up to Velia and then take the [Crossroad] Simplified quest from Alustin in Velia.
Once you have the correct quest from Alustin, go to Fughar to continue with the simplified quest line and obtain your Naru gear.

Season-Exclusive Gear
Season characters cannot equip regular gear!
Season-specific gear (Tuvala gear or Naru gear), Asula accessories, and main story quest gear is the only gear that can be equipped by a season character. These items have special icons on them.
- Naru Gear – Beginner Season gear that you will convert into Tuvala gear.
- Tuvala Gear – End the Season with full PEN Tuvala gear (equal to TET boss gear)
PEN Tuvala Gear can be exchanged for PEN Boss Gear using Jetina’s guaranteed Boss Gear.
Naru Gear
Naru gear is your starting gear set and will be given to you as a reward when you complete the main story quests in Serendia and Calpheon. Naru gear is a stepping-stone to Tuvala Gear, and will be converted to Tuvala when you enhance it to its maximum level.
Beginner Black Stones are used for Enhancing your Naru Gear, and can also be exchanged for Naru gear:
- Beginner Black Stone x1 = Naru Armor x1
- Beginner Black Stone x5 = Naru Accessory x1
- Beginner Black Stone x1 = Naru Main Weapon Box x1
- Beginner Black Stone x1 = Naru Sub-weapon Box x1
- Beginner Black Stone x5 = Naru Accessory x1
You can heat regular black stones to turn them into Beginner Black Stones (although this isn’t recommended).

Black Stone x 30 Black Stone Powder x 1 |

Enhancing Naru Gear
You will need the Beginner Black Stones to enhance Naru gear.
- Naru gear is much easier to enhance than Tuvala gear. If you fail when enhancing they only reduce the maximum durability by -2.
- To start enhancing your Naru gear, right-click the Beginner Black Stone in your inventory to open the enhancing UI.
- You do not need to use any fail stacks to enhance Naru gear, just keep spam-clicking the enhance button until it goes to max.
- Naru armor and weapons can be enhanced up to PEN and accessories can be enhanced up to TRI.
Once you reach PEN Naru armor/weapons and have completed the Mediah questline, you can exchange your PEN Naru gear for PRI Tuvala gear in your inventory window, or in the enhancing window.
Tuvala Gear
Tuvala gear is obtained by exchanging your PEN Naru Gear for PRI Tuvala Gear. Tuvala gear is the set you will use for the rest of the season and it is important to end the season with full PEN Tuvala Armors and Weapons so that you can continue to upgrade this gear after season.
When you end the season, only 1 full set of Tuvala Gear will be kept, but you will need to exchange Time-filled Black Stones for extra accessories to enhance.
These Time-filled Black Stones can be obtained by hunting monsters and other season-exclusive contents. Then exchange the Time-filled Blackstones (x2 for Armor/Weapons, x10 for Accessories) for pieces of gear at a blacksmith in a major town/city.
Tuvala gear pieces can also drop from monsters in Valencia, Kamasylvia, Dreighan, and Sycraia Underwater Ruins.
Tuvala Accessories can also be heated using Processing (L) and then selecting the heating option. Heating accessories will turn them back into Time-filled Blackstones
Tuvala Accessories Enhancement Level | Amount of Obtainable Time-filled Blackstones |
---|---|
+0 | 10 |
PRI (I) | 20 |
DUO (II) | 40 |
TRI (III) | 60 |
TET (IV) | 120 |
PEN (V) | 200 |
Enhancing Tuvala Gear
To enhance Tuvala gear you will need to use an item called Time-filled Black Stone. These can drop when fighting monsters anywhere in the Black Desert World. You can also get extra black stones from season-exclusive content.
Right-click the Time-filled Black Stones in your inventory to open the enhancing UI.

Weekly Season Quests
There are weekly quests you can complete which will give you Rift’s Echo x1 and reward Time-filled Black Stone x600.
You can only complete 1 weekly quest per week. Weekly quests reset every Thursday at 00:00 UTC.
- You need to be at least level 20 to get these quests but we recommend you are over level 56 because they involve killing monsters in certain zones.
- You can find the weekly quests by pressing [O] to open your quest tab, then going to Recurring and they are under the (Season) section.
- There may be platoon parties you can join to make the killing quests go quicker! You can check for Platoons in the ESC menu > Community > Find Party/Platoon.
- If you accept the quest on your Season character, you can complete it on any character and hand it in on your Season Character afterward.
Make sure you have switched on all quests or you will not receive the weekly quest. Do this by pressing [O] and then clicking the icons at the left bottom so that they are yellow like in the image below.
Regional Season Quests
- New regional quests have been added to certain monster zones in Valencia, Kamasylvia, and Drieghan. There will be two quests per monster zone.
- You will get the quest automatically when you enter the area.
- You must kill a certain amount of monsters in that area to receive Time-filled Black Stones and some combat EXP.
- The quests can be completed once on each of your season characters.

Right-clicking a Rift’s Echo will show you the summoning location. Once there, you can either right-click a Rift’s Echo again to start summoning or use the “Faded Ancient Relic” NPC and enter the number of scrolls to set the level. If you use the Faded Ancient Relic method, all party members must insert the same amount of Rift’s Echo as the party leader.

Ancient Weapon Invasions
- Ancient Weapon invasions have a random chance of occurring when you are defeating monsters in Mediah and Valencia territories on the season server.
- Once an Ancient Weapon invasion begins, the event area will darken as a system warning message will display, and after five minutes, a horde of Ancient Weapons will appear.
- The more players in the vicinity, the more Ancient Weapons will spawn, which will also increase the number of possible rewards.
Upon defeating all Ancient Weapons and the final boss monster, you can obtain the following rewards:
Dying to Ancient Weapons may cause you to take certain penalties from death.

Other advice for New Players
- I would recommend checking out our Enhancing Guide which will teach you the basic systems and how to get started with enhancing your gear. Failstacking can be scary and complicated for new players so I recommend also checking Youtube guides to learn more about the process.
- We have a Gear Progression guide, which aims to aid new players with their gear and what they should be aiming for at the different checkpoints. Check this out for a walkthrough of how to gear up your season character.
- Follow the main story quests and complete the Mediah story quest. You should now be around level 55 and can use our grinding leveling guide to reach level 58. Once you are level 58 you can use our Level 58 – 59 guide, Level 59 – 60 guide, and Level 60 – 61 guide to level very quickly using quests and minimal grinding. You will need a Chenga Tome to do this but the questline to obtain the Chenga Tome is easy to complete and doesn’t require you to kill any monsters.
- We also have lots of other basic guides to help teach you things like how to increase your inventory space, how to use the central marketplace, introductions to nodes and contribution points, etc. Check out our list of guides page for more, just be careful you don’t try to learn too much too quickly because the game can be very overwhelming at first!
- Make sure you claim the free Coupon Codes to collect your J’s Hammer and other goodies! This can be used on endgame gear for a protected enhancement.
- If you are confused about anything or have any questions check our Season Server FAQ to get an answer as quickly as possible. Feel free to pop into our Discord server as well and ask questions!
Tuvala cannot be exchanged at “any blacksmith”, only those in major cites and for some reason the 2 LoML villages.

Do I need to remove the crystals before the gear conversion ?
You should be able to leave any crystals in the Tuvala gear and they will remain intact when you convert the gear. However, if you are converting a Tuvala piece to boss gear you must remove the Crystals first. You can find more information about this in our new Season Server FAQ
